6 Things You’re Forgetting During Your Move
Moving is a very trying and busy time. Packing up your entire life and transporting it, even if it’s just across the same city, can be very taxing on you not only physically, but mentally as well. Because your brain has been working endlessly on picking a new neighborhood, home, schools for your kids, and fixing up your current home, other, still important, things can oftentimes fall by the waist side. We have found that these are the top six things people forget to do the most during their move.
Insurance
Insurance is one of those things your dad has counseled you on about a million times, and it’s true. Be sure to insure your belongs during this time. Accidentally dropping the extremely expensive and brand new plasma TV while trying to hang it at the new place is never an exciting moment…
Child Care
Will your children be with you during the time of the actual move? If your move will be a lengthy process or your tots are on the very young side, then it’s probably a good idea to arrange a babysitter during this time in advance.
Pet Care
This can also go for your pets! It can be a scary time for them because they don’t understand what’s going on. Call up your favorite cousin or look online for pet sitter during this transition.
What not to pack
Make sure to keep all important documents on you at all times during your move so they don’t get packed away in the wrong box or in the instance you’ll need it before you’ve had a chance to unpack. What kind of documents are we talking about? Think social security card, insurance cards, passports, and so on.
Utilities
Remember to have the utilities turned on in advance in your new home. It’s not very fun to finally arrive at your new palace only to not be able to relax and watch your favorite TV show during your first night.
Parking
Be sure to scope out the street parking your new neighborhood. This could really make or break your moving process. Find out if there are time restrictions or special permits required on your street. This is the last thing you want to be dealing with on moving day.
We hope that remembering these six items will help your move go more smoothly! Happy moving!
