Ready to move, now the job
It’s time for you to move away from home, and it’s exciting! But now, you need to find that job that will help make it all happen. This process though, can be rather difficult and little bit of a, well, process. Here are a few things that we want you to know to make your transition to another part of the country easier.
Start early
It might take awhile for you to land the gig you want in the location you want. This is why it’s important to start the job hunt as soon as possible. Also keep in mind the times of year and what industry you are looking in make a difference. Research these key points and then attack with your resume at the right time!
Network
Don’t be afraid to use your network or finding one! First, tap into the network you already to have to see if someone may already have leads in the locale you are interested in. You’d be surprised how many connections you may already have! Secondly, reach out to networking groups in the new city. Look at sites like Meet Up for these groups that can link you with possible employment opportunities.
Be Flexible
This might go without saying, but you will need to be flexible with traveling for interviews or the start date of your new gig. Keep you calendar as open as possible for last minute flights for meetings. Also, try to plan visits to the area periodically to make these discussions in-person.

With the current job marketing being what it is, sometimes it’s just easier to go ahead and move to the spot that you want to be in to snag that dream career opportunity. Since you have a local address potential employers will already be more likely to call you back and work with your schedule.
